What is the Workshop fee?
The fee for the 2013 workshop will be $1000 Canadian or American per person (for participants in Carmelites, Seven Deadly Sins and City Workers in Love). The workshop fee for Figaro, which will be presented with orchestra, will be $2000. The fee includes all artistic costs, including coaching, rehearsals and masterclasses.
A non-refundable deposit of $200 is due within 7 days of your receipt of our digital package which will include a letter of agreement. You may pay this deposit via bank transfer or credit card (through PayPal). This deposit does count towards your fee.
Second installment is due by March 15, 2013.
Final installment is due by June 15, 2013.
These two installments can be paid by cheque, money order, bank transfer or credit card (through PayPal).
HSOW charges a $16 application fee which is payable at the time of making your application. This can be paid via PayPal.
NB: All fees are payable in Canadian dollars, or in American dollars accepted at par.
What other costs should I take into consideration?
The workshop fee covers all your tuition, standard coaching time, masterclasses and other scheduled workshop activities. You’ll need to budget for travel to Halifax (which is well served by an excellent international airport), plus your accommodation and food/entertainment.
Does HSOW offer any scholarships?
We have a limited number of bursaries or scholarships to offer to potential participants who can demonstrate both financial need and artistic excellence. You’ll be given a link to the Financial Aid Form after you’ve completed your application to HSOW.
Do you have some suggestions about accommodation in Halifax?
If you need a place to stay in Halifax, we recommend first checking out sites for sublets. Even though you’d only be subletting for a month, there are often people who are happy to get even a month’s subletting over the summer. Here are some we found recently:
Or, if you prefer, you can try the summer residences at Dalhousie University.
There’s also summer residence accommodation at St Mary’s University (less than a km away from the Workshop location at Dal)
